The London Tube map simplified. Quite accurate really.

I am returning to London in 53 days. It will have been 1 year, 6 months, and 9 days since I last stood on London soil. That is too many days.
I am ready.
First of all, I am so blown away by how quickly mob mentality takes over. The way these events in the UK have taken place is astonishing - one minute, a peaceful gathering, the next minute widespread looting and arson across the capitol and now the country.
I’m just wondering - why? I know the UK has seen its fair share of economic struggles recently, as has so much of the world, and people are feeling frustrated and let down by their government leaders but, I’m so curious as to how this behavior will accomplish change…or should I say progress (since London’s landscape has certainly changed thanks to a great deal of fire and looting related redecorating…) I know the answers are not as easy to come up with as the questions but I hope in the coming days people - leaders and followers alike - will begin to consider their actions in relation to accomplishing something productive.
While I no longer live in London, and granted, my living there was a short experience, I feel very tied to these events, what with their beginnings being rooted in my old neighborhood of Tottenham. My friends are all safe, as are their flats, which is good to hear but I’m still glued to the BBC updates. It seems there is a lot to look at regarding the events that took place leading up to the riots. Something more will obviously come of this - positive or not, we won’t know right away. I’m just keeping London in my thoughts and hoping friends stay safe. Now the world will just have to watch what happens.
… separately, my mom, while obviously upset that these events have occurred at all, keeps reiterating how glad she is I am not there while all this is going on.

This is all so insane.

Why is central London so squished? Shout out to my Tottenham neighborhood up north.
I’m sure many of you follow these blogs anyway but these are a few of my favorite British themed Tumblrs so I thought I’d highlight them.
William & Catherine (Obviously very specific)
Skins FTW (Again, obviously specific)
The Queen described the dress’ display as “horrid”… It is a bit creepy with that invisible head thing going on…
